Mad Cow? Never heard of it.

Why is it that Polio Pioneers are still regaled and respected? You think the first guy to get and be cured of Mad Cow had any fame? No. And it’s probably because society has no attention span anymore. Look at movies; when I was a kid I remember movies being 2 to 2 ½ hours long. Now; comedies run 90 and sometimes 80 minutes, I could watch 3 episodes of the office on DVD instead (which is cheaper than taking someone to the movies).

Inversely, the radio plays songs that are much longer than the traditional 3 minutes and 5 seconds, but the songs on the radio now suck much, much more than ever. (And I hate classic rock) Now, we spoon feed 14 year olds stardom for 9 weeks then they are forgotten. When was the last time any of you heard about High School Musical? They had to churn out a fast trilogy because people lose interest so quickly – I know that I did… I mean that my nephew did.

So what was I speaking about again? Oh yea, kudos to all you Polio Pioneers, thank you. And to the Mad Cow guy… well… better luck next time.

I Go Against Everything I Said Yesterday (Sort of)

YES! Last night's episode of Big Bang Theory finally ended Leonard and Penny's relationship, so my spec is back up and running. All I have to do now is just shorten scenes so that they move faster, and maybe lessen the intense Lord of the Rings references I have in there so as that it could be read easier by simpletons (HA!).

I can salvage it unlike my Office spec where they changed the show and cast around so much that my very first spec must die a death seen and heard by no one but it's originator. It's sad... but I'm still excited to keep and upgrade my Big Bang spec!

Nickelodeon Fellowship induces headaches!!!

Is anyone else out there trying to write up a nice resume and bio about yourself? Possibly sitting with their three "finished" specs each day trying to decipher which one is best? It's so annoying, but oh, so worth it. And this is only my first fellowship!

Perhaps someone who writes and stumbles across my site could help. Here are my specs and the pros and cons of each:

The Office: My first one. I feel it has the most jokes, but sadly doesn't have enough room for me to update it with Jim being a co-manager with Michael.

Big Bang Theory: My second spec (and favorite). But it is outdated thanks to Leonard and Howard's current storyline! And my spec has NOTHING if I try to adapt it to the current story for them.

Modern Family: My latest one, so I'm partial to it. Sadly, I think I may have Jay be too "mean" when talking to Mitchell. I'm trying to fix that but other things seem to crumble, and I fear that I should be trimming/punching my Office or Big bang Theory specs.

I just cannot seem to focus.

I'm also looking for 1/2" and/or 3/4" brass fasteners. If anyone finds a website that carries both, it would be greatly appreciated for you to send a link (note: I check daily).

Besides the specs themselves I need to write up why I'm diverse in 25 words or less, and other items such as that.

This will be worth it though, when I'm a finalist living in LA (positive thinking!!!!)

I'm a Traitor to Myself.

Growing up I watched an astronomical amount of TV. If it was a cartoon, I was there. If it was what I perceived as a funny sitcom, I was there. But the days of Stunt Dawgs, Empty Nest, and Wings couldn't last forever. Sure I had Seinfeld, News Radio, and Batman the Animated series to keep me company when I lost my original old friends but it wasn't enough. So when high school ended so did my TV viewing. It dropped steadily until around 2003 or so where all I watched were DVD's (pretty much just the Star Wars and Matrix trilogies). When someone would ask: "Hey, do you watch that show where people eat bugs?" I could proudly say that not only did I not watch that show, but television as a whole could not capture my attention. I was proud to rebuke such an absolute in 98% of America's lives.

I was watching two shows Arrested Development, and the Office. Life was good. It was simple. But then I decided years later to aspire to be a comedic writer for TV, movies or another medium that I couldn't stand. At first it was simple and innocent: "I'll write a spec script for the Office, because I already watch and like that show." But then it snowballed: "I happened to catch an episode of Big Bang Theory, and it was really funny. I'll write a spec script of it, and I'll need to watch the show to stay current, and obviously laugh - which is an awesome fringe benefit."

After the Office, and before Big Bang Theory, I fell for the greatest show ever...LOST. It was natural for me to obsess over this outstanding show. It gives you little hints, and features such cool things as: bunkers, creepy cabins, time-travel, and cool jumpsuits! But after viewing that I wondered if I would like Flash Forward. So I TiVo that now -have yet to see it- I also watch Heroes, Community, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bored to Death, Parks & Recreation, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Colbert Report.

Fastforward to this morning, I mentioned a great show to a friend and realized the number of TV shows I now watch has breached 3. So if I find the time to get away from my computer or TV set and meet up with a person who asks me: "Hey! Have you seen the season premiere of Big Bang Theory?" I must sadly reply with: "Yes I have, and I'm glad I have something to watch after Heroes."
